Xbox Game Pass

Earlier this morning, Xbox Game Pass was announced to be released this Spring. The ability to have an accessible game collection on demand and be able to try games before I want to buy them.

20% of the purchase of a game will it is included in the game pass, with a 10% discount on add-ons for those games as well. On a normal $59.99 game, a 20% discount would mean at $47.99 game, a savings of $12 a game. After buying more than 1 game a month, the discount works out.

With the continuation of Games with Gold as well, this service is going to make the release of Project Scorpio

I will definitely be purchasing this service. Time to clear my Xbox hard drive and work on my current backlog of games.

Cloudflare

I recently went and started using Cloudflare on some of my websites. Even with the recent news of “Cloudbleed”, I am still willing to trust them. The following quote basically sums up my thoughts about them.

…it’s that Cloudflare stopped the bug within 44 minutes of finding out about it and fixed the problem completely within 7 hours.

CNET article by Patrick Holland

Within 1 hour of being told about the bug, they fixed it. I started using their service after this bug was fixed. I wasn’t using it sooner because I didn’t think my small sites needed their service, but now I am giving it a try.

Oscars

As I sit here and watch the 89th Academy Awards and go over my movie list, I notice that I would change a few movies on my list of ones to watch.

I am one of those movies goers that stays till the end of the credits regardless of if there is a part of the movie after it. I do this because there is a lot of work that goes into creating a movie and I want to acknowledge everyone’s work via the credits. It is just a small token of appreciation.

I just wish there was more appreciation for the behinds the scenes work done for the film industry.

2MASS J23062928-0502285

The study of the stars and space has always fascinated me.

Earlier today, there was an announcement about 4 more exoplanets being found near TRAPPIST-1 also known as 2MASS J23062928-0502285. The fact that some of those have the potential to be in a habitable zone makes this discovery great. Knowing that there is a possibility that there could be other life out there.

In the future, one of my planned purchases is a telescope to be better able to see what is out there.

Unfortunately, I am unable to witness the next Solar eclipse on February 26, 2017.
