February in Runescape

Jagex released a list of upcoming updates for the month of February for Runescape.

6th – 15 Year Veteran’s Cape/Invention Tools/Valentine’s Event
Having played this game for over 10 years, I can’t wait for this cape to be released.

13th – Valentine’s Timed Event/Double XP Weekend/Game Jam Weekend
I am not a huge fan of the time events with cosmetic rewards, but I will be participating in this event just due to the weekend it is on. The weekend of double experience will be an eventful one, hopefully I can knock out a bunch of levels.

20th – Skillcape Perks
This update seems very interesting. Being able to harness extra ability while not wearing skill capes seems very beneficial.

27th – Mystery Quest
I don’t know much of the quest but the lore recently in the quests have been superb.

February Releases

These are the releases I am looking forward to in February.

Video Games
Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World releases February 3rd.

Music
February 24th brings the release of 2 albums I am looking forward to.
Colliding By Design by Acceptance

Top WiiU Games

With the Nintendo Switch incoming in the next month, I am going to rank my favorite WiiU games.

1. Mario Kart 8
This game was the reason I bought a WiiU. I loved playing the old maps redone along with their new maps they made for this game.
2. Splatoon
A paintball type shooter was a great change of pace.
3. New Super Mario Bros. U
An update on the side scrolling games.
4. Yoshi’s Woolly World
Yoshi is one of my favorite characters in the Mario series. Having his own side scrolling game was great.
5. Mario Party 10
A great party game to pass the time with friends.

Honorable Mentions
Pikmin 3 – Great series.
Super Smash Bros. for Wii U – This is a great game.
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD – A remake of the original, so I don’t feel comfortable ranking it in this list.
Nintendo Land – A great series of mini-games.

Not ranked because I still need to play them.
Super Mario Maker
Captain Toad’s Treasure Tracker
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
Pokkén Tournament

I have heard nothing but good things about these games, I just haven’t been able to play them yet.

Please note I am only ranking the exclusives for this brand.

RuneScape 2016 in Review

Jagex released a video recapping their 2016 updates and had a player vote of the best updates for the year. These are my thoughts regarding the top 10 updates.

10. Telos
I am not much of a boss hunter, so I haven’t experienced this piece of content myself, but watching streamers attempt this boss was quite entertaining.

9. River of Bloods quest
I haven’t completed this quest yet but it looks like a great end for the Myreque quest series.

8. Beach Party
This was a great social event and a great way to reuse older content.

7. Children of Mah
I haven’t done much in terms of the Sliske quest series, but all the build up around Sliske’s Endgame has been good.

6. The Arc

5. 15th Anniversary Events
Having played this game for over 10 years, this update was a nice little update to celebrate the game. Can’t wait for year 20!

4. God Wars Dungeon 2
The original God Wars was great but unfortunately, I also haven’t tested out this dungeon. This looks like a much better version of the original dungeon.

3. Invention
While I haven’t trained this skill much, this was a great change to the game. Adding the ability to customize weapons and armor is great.

2. Skilling Pets
I haven’t been lucky enough to obtain one of these yet, but I like the look of these pets. My favorite one is Rue the Runecrafting pet.

1. NXT Client
This update made RuneScape look great again. I would consider this on the same level as the Runescape 3 update. This was a massive improvement in the graphics of the game.

Zybez

About a year into my RuneScape career, I joined the forums over at Zybez on August 3rd, 2005. In the time I have been promoted all the way up to Senior Moderator (Administrator) for the forum and have also held various positions regarding the help site portion of the site. Here is a quick timeline of my positions for the forum:

  • July 3, 2006 – First CL position (Marketplace)
  • October 23, 2006 – Senior Membership
  • March 5, 2007 – Moderator
  • June 1, 2011 – Senior Moderator

Since then I have retired from the forum after serving as a to have more time to work on my various other hobbies.

Sadly the help site portion of the site has been shut down in the meantime but the forum remains an active community.

RuneScape Career

As mentioned in a previos post, I purchased the 10-year veteran cape in RuneScape.

So I wanted to give a recap on my career in the game this far. At the time of writing I currently have 188 days of playtime. For having this one account for 10 years that doesn’t seem like a lot but that is due to me taking extended breaks throughout various parts of my career in order to not get burned out from the game. I have been a paying member since June 2008, regardless of any breaks in that time period.

Current list of 99s:

  1. Woodcutting
  2. Fishing
  3. Cooking
  4. Firemaking
  5. Prayer
  6. Mining
  7. Smithing
  8. Crafting

My current total level is 2,399 with  226,339,501 experience which places me in rank 117,381 currently. I also have 318 quest points out of the current 389, which is about 40 quests left currently.

In the ten years I have been playing, I have accumulated hundreds of pictures. In the future, I will be sorting those pictures and uploading my RuneScape career via pictures.

NA LCS Prediction

With the North American League Championship series starting Friday, I am going to rank the teams as I did with the European LCS teams.

  1. Team SoloMid
Until proven otherwise, this is still a top team in the league. The bot lane change won’t change too much with this roster.
  2. Counter Logic Gaming
No roster changes to their worlds lineup. They are still a top tier team.
  3. Cloud9
They upgraded their jungle role, so I still have them in them in the top 3 based on last years performance.
  4. Team Liquid
The only concern I have with this new roster is their mid lane. Link in an unknown and Goldenglue hasn’t proven himself yet.
  5. Team Dignitas
Upgrades at top and jungle, this lineup looks very promising.
  6. Immortals
Questions in how the bottom lane will function and how Dardoch will work with the top and mid lanes. Pobelter is still a great player though.
  7. Phoenix1
New mid, bot and support players, while keeping its core. Roster is definitely upgraded though.
  8. Echo Fox
Major upgrade in the top lane with the addition of Looper. Gate is an underrated player. We will have to see what Froggen will show up this season.
  9. FlyQuest
Hai’s shot calling is great but the x-factor is LemonNation and his notebook with the new 10 ban system. They will have a great pick/ban phase, but we will have to see if that translates into wins.
  10. Team EnVyUs
We will have to see how the new jungler changes this lineup, but this is still a lower tier team.

EU LCS Prediction

With the European League Championship series getting ready to kick off the spring split tomorrow, I am going to give my predictions for how I think this split will turn out.

My top 5 teams are:

  • G2 Esports (Group A)
  • Splyce (Group B)
  • H2k-Gaming (Group B)
  • Fnatic (Group A)
  • Unicorns Of Love (Group B)

My bottom 5 teams are:

  • Misfits (Group A)
  • Team Vitality (Group B)
  • Origen (Group B)
  • Team ROCCAT (Group A)
  • Giants Gaming (Group A)

With the new format for the EU LCS, I believe Group B is the hardest and most competitive group out the two of them. Consisting of H2K, Splyce, Team Vitality, Unicorns of Love and Origen. The 3 teams that make it out of this group will be H2K, Splyce and Unicorns of Love. Team Vitality will make this group competitive and Origen just has too many unknowns currently, but I have faith in xPeke to pull in a good team.

Group A consists of G2 Esports, Fnatic, Misfits, Giants Gaming and Team ROCCAT. For sure G2 Esports and Fnatic will make it out of this group with Mistfits being the better of the teams in the group. G2 made no rosters changes in teams that went to Worlds last year, while Fnatic rebuilt their roster around Rekkles. Two different paths but still the top two teams of this group.
