Wikipedia

I have been a member of the Wikipedia community for over 7 years and have accumulated over 9000 edits. While I don’t contribute as much as I have previously I still fully support their goal.

Imagine a world in which every single person on the planet is given free access to the sum of all human knowledge. That’s what we’re doing.

The internet is a wonderful place and has a wealth of knowledge. Having a starting point for knowledge is a great thing.

Currently, I focus on counter vandalism and improving the articles related to esports, sports, US politics, and the Olympics.

Sports Teams

Here is a list of the sports teams that I follow:

NFL: Buffalo Bills
NHL: Buffalo Sabres
I am from the Western New York area, so I follow these teams.

MLB: New York Yankees and Toronto Blue Jays
I was a big fan of Derek Jeter and Jorge Posada when I was younger so that I have I came to love the New York Yankees. The Toronto Blue Jays come from my following of the Buffalo Bisons, their Triple-A affiliate.

NCCAF: Miami Hurricanes
This school has produced so much talent in football and other ventures. For example, Jim Kelly, Ray Lewis, Ed Reed and Warren Sapp just to name a few. Lets not forget Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who played football for the school.

NBA: Cleveland Cavaliers

MLS: Houston Dynamo
Don’t follow soccer as much as the other sports but as this sport grows I look forward to watching its growth.

Following so many sports teams, sometimes it is hard to follow all the games and scores. For this, I use my Google Calendar. In an upcoming post, I will go into detail on how I use Google Calendar to keep up with my sports teams and other life events.

RIP Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka

Today, I am saddened by the death of Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka at the age of 73. While his main wrestling career was years before my time, he will leave a lasting legacy with the wrestling industry.

The highlight of your career was years before I was even born but it continues to impact myself and the wrestlers I continue to watch today. October 17, 1983, in a steel cage match at Madison Square Garden in a match against Don Muraco, you made a leap that changed the lives of many. This is the memory that I will remember about you.

Fly high.

Cordcutting

To start off on the new year, my wife and I decided to cancel our cable to save some money. We are saving about $80 a month via Time Warner.  We already had a Netflix subscription and WWE Network subscription, so we already had plenty of content to watch besides cable programs. My wife also had an Amazon Prime subscription so we could search for programming on that as well if we couldn’t agree on a Netflix solution.

We also have a habit of watching Twitch streams as well. When my wife and I originally moved into our house we started without cable service for 6 months. We then had cable for about a year. We originally got cable to watch live sports but have decided to give that up.

We are currently in the process of looking into getting an antenna to capture some local channels available of the air.  We are also looking into all the different streaming platforms. Currently we are using our Xbox One and an Amazon Fire Stick. All of our TVs are smart TVs but we don’t really use that function of the TV. We have a Playstation that we could use for streaming options as well but don’t use it that often.

One streaming option we are looking into is the History Vault, but at this time the only place we could watch it is on a computer which currently doesn’t suit of home setup. Although we are looking at Rokus to try so we may be trying History Vault shortly after the Roku.

Here is to a new year and new adventures.
