f.lux – Review

In my last post you read about my main computer that I use. One program that I use to enhance my experience with it is f.lux. My work on the computer tends to go into the night and bright lights regardless of time of day give me headaches usually.

f.lux is a program that alters the display’s color temperature to reduce eye strain and to help with sleep. Since I used the computer a lot at night, I gave this program a shot and have never looked back. I now have it installed on every computer I use.

One aspect I can’t wait to try out in the future is the Philips Hue LED lighting. Right now I don’t have a Philips Hue system but that is on my list of things to buy and try out this year.

If you don’t trust me read their research about their program. Give it a try for at least a week and see how it works for you. It will take a couple of days to adjust to the monitor.

Gaming PC Specs

Welcome to 2017! 2016 was a great year filed with many great adventures.

Within the last year I have invested in a gaming/video editing computer. I mainly used to be a console gamer via the Xbox systems but have started trying more PC games as well. Below is my current build.

For any pictures, music and main documents I have stored on a separate computer, which is used a a home media server that is linked up with the rest of my network. A future post will be made about my network. This is the best computer but it gets the job done.

New Host, New Blog, New Year

Greetings all,

I recently just switched hosting providers for this blog. I went from Stablehost to Digtal Ocean. With this switch I wanted to start from scratch to try some new things out.

In regards to Stablehost, I still have a couple of sites hosted on their service, and only switched to try out a service with a different outlook on web hosting. My past experiences with web hosting providers I was using cPanel as the main backend, but with Digital Ocean I am trying a different way to manage the website to further my understanding of ssh.

And with the new year approaching it is a good time to try different things.

Welcome to the new blog!
